Two Wonderful Nights

Dear Ruth & Mike, thank you for two wonderful nights in Boris the Pod. We felt so welcome from the very first moment and truly enjoyed our stay here. Even the Scottish weather could not stop us from enjoying the Island – and coming back to Boris afterwards always felt cosy and special. We also loved all the creative details and will definitely take some inspiration home with us. Sadly, our journey continues, but we would love to come back one day.

Clean & Comfy

Clean, comfy; originally booked for a couple of nights, but ended up staying the whole week. I would definitely recommend Boris to anyone wanting a short stay on Skye.

3 is a magic number?

Yes it certainly is! Mike, Ruth and. of course, Boris. For a birthday present I think my siblings will be jealous of my present for my dad. Our short stay on the Isle of Skye has been unforgettable. Mike and Ruth are a big reason for that. They have been wonderful hosts, entertaining my dads ramblings is one thing, but the care they have put into Boris and their warm and beautiful personalities have been a joy to meet. We found the perfect spot, accommodation and hosts.

Thank you to all 3! Thomas and Chris, Manchester, 18th May 2026

Location

Boris is situated in Kensaleyre (pronounced: ‘Ken-sal-ire’; Gaelic: Ceann Sàil Eighre), which is a small crofting township on the edge of Loch Eyre. He very conveniently lives half way between Portree, which is the largest settlement on Skye, and Uig, where the CalMac ferry sails daily to and from Harris and North Uist.

For keen walkers, Kensaleyre is on the western side of the Trotternish Peninsula. The Trotternish escarpment runs the full length of the peninsula, about 20 miles, including the famous Quiraing in the north and the Old Man of Storr, just north of Portree.

For those wanting to explore Skye, Boris can be found in the local area of Skeabost, with the ancient St Columba’s Isle nearby, whilst Dunvegan Castle and Coral Beach are about half-an hour’s drive away to the west, and Staffin, Kilt Falls and the dinosaur museum are about the
same distance to the east.

Loch Eyre hosts a wide variety of sea birds, and sea eagles have been spotted occasionally soaring over the hill opposite to Boris! If you are a wild swimmer or enjoy boating, access to the loch is literally a two-minute walk away.
